The Cataloging Department is where the library’s purchased and donated materials are added to the catalog, given call numbers, and processed. Members of the department strive to ensure access to Smith Library’s holdings through our online Voyager catalog. Cataloging is a vital library unit; without catalogers, it would be impossible to locate any of the hundreds of thousands of books, videos, and CDs, scores, etc.,  in our collection. Smith Library proudly uses the Dewey Decimal Classification system to categorize and catalog library materials.

Requests for materials which the online catalog indicates are “In Process” should be turned in to the Circulation Dept. Such requests will then be processed by Cataloging as time permits, and the processed items will be held in Circulation for the requester, who will be notified when the item(s) are ready for check-out.
